Wed, 14 May 2008 A quick little episode before the trip to Acen tomorrow. Tyler and Darrin (with brief special guest star Ryland) talk up Pushed to the Edge and One Master Too Many. The fates hated us as we recorded this. We tried to record Sunday, didn't work, then a new JF ep hit Monday, we recorded this. And just now the next episode, Ghost of a Chance I, hit Jetix.tv. Whoops. Next time on Rangercast: Anime Central 2008. Oh yes. Tune in for interviews, crazy moments, and anything else we can squeeze in. Good times. Comments[0] |
Sat, 3 May 2008 Tyler, Ryland, and super special snap substitute co-host Darrin (MoonsKnight) tackle some big news and stuff. Dragon Knight doesn't suck. We discuss (and gush over) the trailer, while Darrin watches it for the very first time. A source hooked us up with titles, synopses, and writer credits for JF episodes 14-29. Good news: We get the Spirit Rangers. Those crazy toys weren't just Bandai messing with our heads. The bad news? 14-29 are all written under pseudonyms, aftereffects of last year's WGA strike. And aside from a three-episode arc, it's all Sentai rips from here. We proceed to lose hope and abandon ship. Oh, and new Jungle Fury episode. The Blind Leading the Blind. Does Master Swoop make the episode soar? Or does Theo's training still leave it dead in the water? Tune in and find out. (Hint: Tyler liked this. Impy hated it. Surprise!) Oh, and check out the Rangercast page on Facebook, because bandwagoning is fun. Comments[1] |
Fri, 18 April 2008 Sorry for the silence. Tyler's been a little busy with school and stuff. In the news, friend of the show Keith Hayward got into the Kamen Rider Dragon Knight wrap party. Jealousy aside, he walked away with some good stuff and a proclamation that, yes Virginia, it doesn't suck. And what is our favorite cyborg Red Ranger doing on the Go-Onger set? Tyler, Chris, and Ryland tackle "Pizza Slice of Life," "Way of the Master," and "Good Karma, Bad Karma." Tyler points out the good stuff, while Chris and Ryland drink tall glasses of Haterade. An exhausted Tyler adds little to the discussion. And Ryland is apparently the Tourette's Guy in his spare time. In Rangerboard Masterpiece Theater, theblue1 wonders where we get our information. Mon, 31 March 2008 OP/ED: Both from Go-onger, because PRAS's folk rap theme just doesn't do it for us. Brought to you by Anton Mercer Industries, bringing you generically scientific innovations since 1999. Comments[7] |
Sat, 22 March 2008 Tyler, Chris, and Impy tackle "Dance the Night Away," then somewhere along the line veer incredibly off-topic. Now, normally Tyler has a principle of editing out profanities from Rangercast--why should a podcast about a show primarily made for a younger audience have such things?--but this episode of Rangercast got so out of hand that Tyler just threw up his hands and gave up on that idea. Ergo, this episode is not for kiddies. Sorry kiddies. This episode is dedicated to Lawrence Stuckey, chairman of T-Mode, and an all around awesome guy. We'll miss ya. Comments[3] |
Sun, 16 March 2008 We rehash the unquestionably awful episodes of Jungle Fury we missed. After some armchair quarterbacking, we posit how we would do it better. For example, you know, poison that isn't cured with a Tylenol and a good night's sleep. Tyler's been approved for Acen and Otakon press. And he's been confirmed as a program participant for Balticon. This should be fun. Joe "Rofang" Rovang is adapting Jetman. Go read now. Chris also sings the praises of our friends at Spandex Report, who will more then likely mention that we did so in today's report, setting off a recursive loop of plugging and destroy the universe. Hey guys! Comments[3] |
Sat, 8 March 2008 We here at Rangercast.net are, frankly, psyched to bring you a chat we had the other day with Valerie Vernon, best known (of course) for playing Kendrix in PR Lost Galaxy. She sat down with us and chatted about all sorts of stuff, from how she got the part to punching Archie Kao in the face. She tells us what could have been in LG and what she's been up to these days. Enjoy! Regular episode discussion resumes next time with a three-for-one special. Yee-haw. (And if anybody knows who made that LG theme remix used early in this ep, let me know.) Comments[3] |
Sun, 2 March 2008 I got swamped with work from various sources and won't be able to get a show out this week. If you saw my to-do list, trust me, you'd believe me. But check back next weekend for twice the episode discussion and some pretty awesome news! Category: general -- posted at: 8:29 AM Comments[1] |
Sun, 24 February 2008 The crew (Tyler, Chris, Hayden, Ryland) tackles Welcome to the Jungle I and II. How was this year's premiere? Lowered expectations do help, it turns out. Special guest stars: CLF's dogs. Opening sketch written and performed by Tyler Waldman and Mike Manos with samples from....meh, lots of stuff. Listen and figure that out. In Rangerboard Masterpiece Theatre, the poster Super Sentai catches up on WAY old news and offers his belated opinion. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a craving for RJ's pizza--I love that Hemp Surprise. I wonder what's it it... FIXED! If you have a 5 minute RC, you have the broken one. What happened? I'll let my tech support explain. Comments[8] |
Thu, 21 February 2008 Yes, I know JF premiered. And yes, we've talked about it. And yes, that episode of RC will be up soon. But first thing's first. We head to Katsucon 14 in Washington DC. Fun most definitely ensues. I know that 99% of the people listening to this aren't doing it for my sexy voice, so here are some timecodes to make everybody's life easier. 2:52- I speak with the winner of the 1st Annual Rangercast Most Hardcore Fan Award, which I created mid-conversation with her. And in case you're wondering, she's in recovery and doing fine right now. 4:06- We catch up with the busy (and currently sick with the con-plague) Rym from GeekNights 7:25- Clips from the Match Game hosted by Rym and Scott 22:53- Some of the Sentai panel I co-hosted. I think we blew people's minds with Supaidaaman 41:30- An interview with Johnny Yong Bosch. We chat about Once a Ranger, DMC4, Broken Path, and the convention experience. 56:05- Johnny introduces and, afterwards, answers questions about his new movie Broken Path (directed by Koichi Sakamoto and also starring Dan Southworth and Mokoto Nagino) I took lots of pictures. Did I take yours? Check out our gallery here: http://picasaweb.google.com/aresef/Katsucon1402 Some of the music in this episode is from the Eyeshine album "Red Stripes White Lights," which isn't actually out yet. But certainly, when it is out, pick it up. Comments[4] |
