Tetsuo Kurata to make first US appearance at Power Morphicon

Tetsuo Kurata, the Japanese actor best known as Kotaro Minami in Kamen Rider Black and Kamen Rider Black RX, is making his first US appearance at Power Morphicon in August, the convention announced Monday.

Kurata joins previously-announced guests Shiro Izumi (Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger, Dengeki Sentai Changeman), Masahiro Inoue (Kamen Rider Decade, Garo: Goldstorm Sho), Yui Koike (Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger), Kenta Satou (Kousoku Sentai Turboranger), Masaru Shishido (Choriki Sentai Ohranger) and Ryota Ozawa (Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger).

Kurata auditioned for his iconic role as a freshly minted high school graduate in 1987. He was hand-picked by Shotaro Ishinomori from over 8,000 other aspirants. He went on to play Kotaro for nearly 100 episodes between the two series. He returned to the role two 20 years later, with guest appearances in two episodes of Kamen Rider Decade.

Both Black and Black RX are available in the US through Discotek Media. Power Morphicon is Aug. 23-25 at the Pasadena Convention Center in Pasadena, California.
